January 2000: Third Page of Thinking that Leads to NEAT

Historical markings occur to me on this page, which apparently I first called "absolute slot #." You can see that in the first example on the page I realize that when I label them in order of their appearance, the numbers resolve what gene aligns with what. I later call them "innovation matches," which suggests that I am starting to see the significance of the idea.

In the second example on the page, you can see that I have fully understood its implications, which I label after the fact, "Defeating Competing Conventions." On the bottom of the page I finally write the rule behind historical markings, which I am now calling "innovation #."
